Guide On Male Fragrances

by www.mensvanity.com

Though all different types of men’s perfumes and scents became an inalienable part of a modern man lifestyle, men still have some kinds of confusion in the case of all these types like eau de toilette, extrait, aftershave etc. So, I decided to guide your way into the fragrant world of odors and scents.

Different types of male scents

Aftershave   Eau de Cologne

You should know that there are much better way than alcohol to sooth your freshly shaven jawline- aftershaves. They contain from 1% to 3% of perfume oil and the rest is alcohol. Owing to the male discretion they became highly popular. Relatively small concentration of the perfume oil makes the aftershaves an ideal option for men who don’t really like wearing too much scent. Usually aftershave fragrance doesn’t last for too long and have the law concentration in the air.   That’s where a lot of confusion appears. Majority of American men used to call with the word “cologne” every single type of men’s scent. In fact cologne contains only 2% to 5% of perfume oil and tends to last a bit longer than an aftershave. As a rule, colognes have a light and summery scent and owing to the amount of contained alcohol they are perfect for the hot climate and for situation when you don’t want to wear a big, fat leathery perfume on you all day long. The perfume brands also bring the confusion in our minds by using the term “cologne” meaning “eau de toilette”. You just need a little practice in order to recognize the difference.

Eau de Toilette   Eau de Perfume

Eau de Toilette is the number one popular fragrance for men. It contains from 4% to 8% of perfume oil and is characterized with an excellent staying power. Great variety of scents ordered today on the market fall into this category. It got its name from the phrase “faire sa toilette” that is translated from French as “getting ready”.   The largest part of the present-day men are unlikely to opt for eau de perfume unless they are the real addicts of fragrance and truly looking for the individual scent that will help them to stand out in the crowd. This scent can really turn everybody’s head since it contains 8% to15% of perfume oil and are able to last all day long (I have no doubts you will feel them on the next day too). But the price for this long-lasting effect is usually higher in comparison to other fragrances.
