Julie Anne San Jose

by Bianca Banzali

She amazed us with her angelic voice. She “wow-ed” us with her simple beauty. She inspired the youth through her performances. And most of all, she showed every dreamer the most beautiful outcome of dreaming which is SUCCESS.

She’s fine, fresh, fierce. But is certainly not a California Gurl. She is one proud Pinay and is proudly made in the Philippines. She is no other than Julie Anne P. San Jose.

Julie, or “JAPS”, as what her fans call her, is a regular performer of Party Pilipinas. She is the town’s newest young diva. But how did this amazing girl go this far?

Julie lives with a simple family and a simple life. She was born May 17, 1994. She has two other younger siblings.

Julie started her career around year 2005 when she joined Popstar Kids, a national singing contest presented by the QTV network. At first, her father really didn’t want her to join showbiz because it may affect her studies. But, Julie pursued her dream and finally did enter showbiz. She may have not won the contest but she proved her father that she can sing, not only her father did she amaze but also a lot of fans. While she was on her way pursuing her dreams, Julie was able to open many doors of opportunities. She was given the chance to host a kiddie show in QTV. She also became a member of kiddie group “Sugarpop” which helped her gain more fans. She was also able to record some songs with the group. The group stayed for years but also separated. Julie was given a solo career and was supported by the network. Years later, Julie had an acting debut on the teleserye “Gaano Kadalas ang Minsan” presented by the GMA network.

Julie also amazed everyone on how she did balance her career and her studies. If balancing sports and studies is hard for most athletes, they got nothin’ on Julie. She balanced her career and studies well. She worked thrice as better as those athletes. Julie is still a freshman in Angelicum College. And she is taking up Communication Arts. Say whutt?

Now, Julie is enjoying the spotlight. But even if she is at the top of the wheel, she always keeps in mind that she should always keep her feet on the ground. This girl is really humble especially when it comes to the fans. She communicates with them and interacts with them well. No wonder why this sweetheart is a crowd favorite. Though at times her fans really get annoying, she never lets her temper come over her overflowing humility. This is how amazing this girl is.

A Julie Anne article would not be complete without Elmo Magalona’s name in it. When I usually ask people, “Do you know Julie Anne San Jose?”, most reply would be “Oh yes, the one being paired up with Elmo, right?”. As well as Elmo, an Elmo Magalona article would not be complete without Julie Anne’s name in it. They’re like Mangga’t Bagoong, no matter where you go Mangga will never be complete without Bagoong.

Julie’s tandem with Francis Magalona’s son, Elmo, really clicked especially with the teens and the teens-at-heart. Their overflowing chemistry made all of these things happen. Their chemistry was seen when they were paired up on production numbers, at first people thought that it would only go that far. But, with their overflowing chemistry, they gained lots of fans. No one expected for them to be paired up, it just happened. Or maybe its destiny . Their tandem had a big fan base. The fans then called their tandem “JuliElmo” (joo-lee-yell-mow). The JuliElmo tandem became even more and more “kilig” when they starred in the sequel shown on Party Pilipinas, Red Mask which had three parts, and now the much talked about rap musical, “A Wazak Love Story”. This August 15, 2012, “JuliElmo” tandem leads "Just One Summer" a romance-drama film directed by Mac Alejandre, produced by GMA Films that will be showing nationwide. These two performers do not only show chemistry but also passion on doing their crafts.

Right now, Julie is a regular performer of Party Pilipinas. She never fails to amaze each and every crowd. Every week different talents from Julie is shown. She can dance, she can act. She blew people away when she rapped Gloc9’s hits. Even bigger and more experienced artists acknowledged her. Ms. Lea Salonga, a Filipina international performer, said once in an interview that Julie Anne is really amazing and hopes that this girl would go far. Mr. Jim Paredes, an original member of APO Hiking Society, once tweeted Julie Anne on how great she was when they performed together on APO Musical. Gloc9, the man who has the fastest mouth which says 2 words per second, also acknowledged Julie for doing such a great job in rapping. See, this just proves that this girl really has something to show and something to prove.

To most fans, Julie is known to be macho, pogi, astig. She loves playing around especially with the fans. Her hyperness makes people laugh. Sometimes she would throw out jokes through her tweets which other celebrities also laugh about. Besides her astig facial expressions on prods, inside is a jolly, happy, sweet, and calm Julie. She doesn’t get mad easily with fans unless you really annoy her much. She is even very calm and kind when it comes to talking with haters and fans, she would even let God bless them.

If you haven’t asked, there’s also another X-Factor inside Julie. She covers up some songs. Not only that, she arranges them by herself. Her songs are also great. She would even get acknowledged by international fans, and even some artists. As of this writing, Julie Anne San Jose's FIRST SOLO and SELF-ENTITLED ALBUM is now #1 on iTunes (Philippines), according to an update from GMA Records.

Julie is now 18. When you see her perform, you wouldn’t expect that she is only 18. She is given mature production numbers, and yes she delivers it well. And to let you know, the mature and fierce looking Julie is different from the Julie Anne you see offstage or backstage. Once you get to bond with her, you would not want to go home and for sure all you can say is ‘She’s really humble’.

Julie, JAPS, Princess of Rythm, young diva, Musical Princess, whatever names you call her, she will still always be the Julie Anne that people knew on her Popstar Kids days. She will never fail to amaze us not just by her voice and beauty but also with the humility and attitude that she shows to every fan. She will always be the bagoong to Elmo’s mangga, she will always be the greatest sister to her two younger siblings, she will always be the best daughter to her parents and most of all she will always be the humble, sweet, and talented follower of God.

To Julie, you go girl. ‘Cause you’re more than amazing just the way you are. Always remember that if you and Elmo got each other’s backs, WE got your backs and we will never get fed up by your prods. Not only your prods but also you. Hopes up to this girl.

LET US TOAST TO THE FUTURE. NOW HERE’S TO US AND HERE’S TO HER.
